Periodically I write in a paper journal. A few years ago, I was writing in a paper journal and seeing a (sort of) counselor who is also a hypnotherapist. One of her suggestions was to write in a journal. Back then I was having issues around eating out and drinking too much and drinking too much and then eating too much and trying to tame the beast of eating and drinking. I do not have these issues any longer mostly because I am not drinking or eating or eating and drinking. Maybe journaling cured me.

This past week for the retreat I didn't take my computer. I picked up that same paper journal and put that in my suitcase. While at the retreat I wrote daily about what we had for meals and what we talked about, the group discussions and my feelings. I dated each page with the date starting with 08/26 running through the weekend.

This morning prior to leaving for a doctor appointment, (not the infamous Dr. LePew), I grabbed the journal to glance over what I had written last week during the retreat. I went to the page where I started writing last Wednesday, dated 08/26. After looking over what I had written on 08/26, I looked at the previous page I had written in just to check the date I last wrote in this journal. The last entry in this very same journal prior to last week Wednesday (08/26/09) was 08/25/05. My last entry was 3 years ago almost to the day.
