Que Sera Sera

This photo is great. Don't you think?  My sister, the budding photog took the photo a few days after I came home. I had just eaten a sugar-free popsicle. Yum!

It is what it is.
I dislike that saying. It's similar to the phrase shit happens.

Also similar to "what will be, will be, though you never hear anyone saying "what will be, will be" anymore.
I vote for the return of the phrase "what will be, will be." We can all go around pretending we are Doris Day.

Comme ci, comme ça.

We must have worn out "whatever," a useless, dismissive saying. I didn't like that one either. I think the problem with these phrases is they are so dismissive,  there's no chance of continuing a conversation after being dismissed that doesn't start with the words, "Fuck you..."

My surgery was a week ago this past Tuesday. June 15th. Today -- I'm sitting at my work desk, talking with my sister and feeling PDG.

Dr. J passed me a very interesting article entitled Obesity Surgery Should be a Family Affair.  I sent it out to all my skinny family members and one chubby one. I hope he doesn't take offense.

As for my WLS experience this past week, I'm just about ready to go back to work. Still a bit tired; get winded easily. I had to take my garbage can, plus green recycle and regular recycle up to the top of the driveway last night.  I'm not supposed to life over 25 lbs for a month but I figure I keep lifting myself so...That bit of exercise probably helped me lose two more pounds. I'm down 20 lbs total this morning. I really feel the loss around the top of my legs (water) (lymphedema be reduced!), plus there's more room in my neck, something I've always wanted.

Last night at the local store, the owner came up to me and said, "You look thinner!" I told her I had WLS on the 15th. She said "Now you''ll have to save for plastic surgery!" Oh, yeah, I want more surgery (biaaach). I wanted to tell her that when the skin on my butt hits the floor in a year, she can kiss my ass if her knees still function though instead I think I muttered "What will be, will be."

The changes I've experienced so far: stopped asthma medication. I took Singulair™ nightly. I stopped taking Claritan D (from behind the pharmacy counter) at a dollar a pill, twice daily for post nasal drip. I've pretty much stopped eating. I discovered that the whey protein drinks for WLS are repulsive. Water is glorious, glorious, glorious! I don't sit around thinking about food because it's pointless. (they have to invent a pill for this *thinking* thing). Occasionally I want to eat something savory and the only savory that comes in whey protein drinks that I'm willing to take a chance on are tomato and/or chicken "soup." You'll not find this "soup" on Foodporndaily ever. I find I'm rarely hungry.

WLS is like induced hunger evaluation, intuitive eating etc. Surgery may be a drastic step though so far, I'm 100% behind my decision.

Love the picture and glad to hear you're up and about with no regrets. I've never had WLS and still could use some cosmetic stuff but you know, que sera, sera.

I'm glad you're feeling better after surgery and they didn't touch your sense of humor.

Good luck and glad you're feeling better. This is great. And you're already feeling better. Your humor should help you get through this as well as the support from your followers who are behind you 100%.

You sound full of sass and I like that! WTH to the person telling you about plastic surgery. Why do people always gotta have a (stupid) opinion, and worse yet, TELL US???

Whatever.

Some PEOPLE!

I'm glad that you are feeling better. Down 20 is awesome. Maintaining your sense of humor? Wonderful.

Love, love, love the picture!

Orange?? Yuck! When I buy those sugar free popsicles, I always end up with all those orange ones left over because I only like the red and purple. From now on, you can have all my orange ones. Also, they really stain my lips something awful and I end up looking like I just finished blowing Garfield or something by the time I'm done. I don't even like cats!

I think for just one day you should tell people the AWESOME retorts you come up with in your head instead of quoting lines from movies. If you could pick a day when you have a camera crew readily available, that would be just swell.

Your biggest fan,
Tricia.

Can't people just say "way to go!" or something equally positive and leave out their big BUTT?

I'm sure you'll do just fine and dandy with everything. You have a great attitude and that sense of humor never hurts either. You've been through so much over the past few years and I feel that this is just what you needed. I know my sister-in-law had to be mentally in the right place for her WLS to be successful and she was....6 years later and she is still doing great. I think you were definitely in the right place, frame of mind, and whatever else you have to be "right in" to make this work. You'll do fine.

PS -- thanks for the comment you left on my blog. I read the article and am making some changes (hopefully). Stay tuned!

I feel guilty coming over here (a guilty pleasure) because you always make me smile, and I have nothing to give back.

I'm glad things are coming along for you. Good to hear the swelling in your legs is going down.

Twenty pounds is great!

You must still be suffering the effects of the anaesthetic, else why did you not smack that store owner upside the head? (figuratively, I mean. Well, okay, literally would have been okay, too.....)

Glad you're feeling good, but don't overdo - they tell you not to lift heavy things after surgery for a REASON!

I'm glad to here your up and around with no regrets and swesome job the 20lb weight loss.
It took a good three weeks before I almost felt back to normal from my hysterectomy last fall I dont remember much from the first two weeks the pain was bearable due to good drugs so your way ahead of the curve there.
Don't go over doing now:)

I gotta say that what I love about the photo is that wicked look in your eyes (the tongue, not so much). Yep, you're on the mend, alright.

What will be will be is at it's best when sung!!

For what it's worth (probably not much), just like there is a get out of jail free card in Monopoly, I gave you my lifetime never offended card :-)

Wow look at you go girl! I just happened to pop in to see what you had to say and just look at you... I am in awe of you and all you choose to do. You inspire the heck right out of me, I am an avid believer that people who laugh heal and recovery faster than those who are into self pity... the photo, well what can I say? It's hilarious!

All the best to you, you go girl! And nope no whatevers here! Also no more "just" is in my vocab, just one, just this, just that... justify everything or anything. I used to leave messages "Hi, it's just me..." no more, I'm not JUST me, I'm Darlene and darn proud of it!

Have a wonderful day and keep taking those awesome photos, I love viewing your shots!
