| Schulties dust path 09/02/10 |
The central valley is supposed to heat up to 100 degrees or higher today. Should I keep the top of my convertible down? With added layers of compression bandaging to keep the lymphedema from swelling, from the waist down, I'll be completely melted by the time I reach the sierra foothills.
Bella got a bath last night and this morning while I was washing my car, she decided it was time to get in the mud and then jump on my car. Then driving down Schulties with the top down and the dust flying, the car was covered with dust both inside and out.
Dr. Crabby was good with the weight loss. He wants to see me in two months. He said lots of negative things. He says "this will be really hard going forward." "You'll be lucky if..." "Beware." "Danger, Will Robinson."
I don't understand this kind of talk coming from a doctor. I guess I need to lower my expectations. Who am I to have them anyway? Even if things are difficult (which they almost always are at some point), wouldn't a pep talk instead of a dire warning work toward success? I have enough people warning me. GeeSus! I have enough warnings in my own head.
I lost another pound over night. Over the weekend, someone will be taking care of my house, watering the plants and feeding my cat. Things are looking pretty good from here, even through all the dust.

Dr. Crabby sounds like the mother of all Eeyores!
I hope the visit with your mother goes better than anticipated. She probably does have many chores for you. I know every single time we go to my mother's she grabs someone and has them do something she's been saving. Must be an old person thing.
You mentioned the cat but not Bella. Does she get to go on the road trip?
I heard about the accident too so I took alternate routes but MY road is paved.
Hope you have a good visit!
The unpredictability of 17 always made for a harrowing commute - me: Aptos to San Jose (long ago).
We're all here to give you the thumbs up! Who needs Eeyore? Just use caution (as if I know what I'm talking about).
More Murphy's pics to be posted next week, maybe? You're going to look really cool with the top down cruising the main drag! Have fun and don't work too hard in that heat. Cheers~
Cracking up at Helen's comment - yes, I do believe Dr. Crabby has been renamed "Dr. Eeyore" - whah whah whahhhhh. (sound effects)
This road is just as I would imagine the woods in Robert Frost's poem, "These woods are lovely dark and deep/But I have promises to keep/ And miles to go before I sleep"
Janelle, hope your trip to your Mom's is filled with more good than chores!
And as for the Good Doc Eeyore, well, I think your constitution is strong enough to just do what you need to do and ignore His Direness.
Could Dr. Crabby be any more of a butthead? Nope. Don't think so.
Hope your visit with Mom goes well and you have some fun. (she writes hopefully)

Beautiful picture. It makes me think of hope.
Drivers must have been "hopping" mad (...beer...hops... -- maybe?)
Anyway, I hope your visit with your mom goes well. Does she enjoy Bella?
laughing at the dr crabby/butthead remark.
me? I more thought WAIT, IS DR CRABBY MY MOTHER?!
Maybe your mission, Will Robinson, is to turn Dr. Crabby's frown upside down!
Dr Crabby sounds like the nutritionist I worked with for about a year. I worked SO HARD to turn her strictly pursed ascetic pie hole (past which I am certain NO PIE ever crossed) into a smile.
nothing.
I asked her once how people stopped working with her. She said they just stopped coming. I just stopped coming when her only advice upon a tortuous months long plateau was that I was eating much too much.
How much? According to her records I'd been averaging ~1700 calories a day, except that I'd been giving her my FitDay printouts and Fit day (which I maniacally and surgically accurately entered) showed that my daily average was about 1350. WTF?
In hindsight, I wish I hadn't sought revenge with tiny little mother superior by stuffing my mouth so many times. sigh.
Don't let him get to you! I do just wish that it was possible to get the whole package from one professional. Tho I suppose you want your surgeon to be better with his hands than his wit. I guess you'll just have to get your peace love and understanding from us.
PS: you live in the sticks!
Maybe not a good top down day today because of the heat -- even here in the foothills but it's supposed to cool off again this weekend.
We should pick a half way spot along hiway 49 between where I live and where your mom lives & meet for iced tea...martinis?
Hope everything goes well with your caretaker role. Take some good foothills photos.
Congrats on your continued success with your weight loss. Wow! About the doc's attitude. Perhaps he just perceives himself to be "realistic" not negative. Who knows? Tagging him as Eeyore is brilliant. I like Eeyore. Maybe you can learn to like Eeyore too.
I love that picture...there's gotta be a message in that sun shining through the trees.
I am convinced that Crabby needs therapy. Just ignore him...you're doing great.
Dr. Crabby really needs to get an attitude adjustment. What's with all the gloom and doom with him? Glad you don't let yourself get infected with his negative vibes.
Stay cool and enjoy the weekend!
Sounds like my road! I gave up washing my car long ago. Hope your mom doesn't have too many chores for you and the doctor learns to offer suggestions not warnings!
