It's a Small World After All - Rogue Trippin
Here we find our young (super heroine) Rogue (far right - obviously in disguise; snazzy cardigan cape) waiting with family outside Aunt Jemima's Kitchen in downtown Frontier-land, Disneyland, Anaheim, California. Rogue thinks this photo was taken in the 60s when/where the public took for granted was completely oblivious to a conspicuous display of hateful symbols. Rogue's pretty sure she didn't have/get to go into the restaurant because back in those days there were far too many mouths to feed in her family (and from the looks of the photo, those mouths ate quite a lot) even if your basic menu was bacon, pancakes and racist images of black women and the south. Rogue appreciated being allowed the trip to Disneyland regardless. Had she even been aware, she would never have posed for this photo in this location, in THAT outfit. Rogue is old enough to remember the demise of the Sambo's restaurant chain too. Rogue is happy to move onto new battles.
Rogue believes this was the very same family vacation where, when they ate at some random Italian restaurant (walls most likely covered in depictions of Italian stereotypes, Luigi), Rogue's brother choked on a bay leaf strategically planted in his food by a menacing top chef, vomiting spaghetti noodles hither and thither - one of many vacation highlights among which included riding the brand new Pirates of the Caribbean ride while one of the pirates asked Rogue on a date, and the penultimate score - singing lyrics to It's a Small World After All thousands of times in one lifetime, and to this very day even if the world has gotten so much bigger than Rogue can even fathom.

I can't get over how nicely dressed everyone is for a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth - didn't Rogue's dress fly up on the rides?
Rogue is super human. Dresses don't fly.
Rogue has given me a lot of memories with that picture and I didn't even grow up in Cali nor have I been to Disneyland!
I think the original Sambo's is still open in Santa Barbara. A Rogue's work is never finished.
What I love about this pic is how Rogue is looking away from where everyone else is looking. Makes me wonder what she's spied off in the distance. Maybe a pirate wandering by?
What an awesome pic! I grew up in Jacksonville, FL so my earliest memory of going to Disneyworld was when I was 4 or 5. My mom was pregnant with my baby sister Amy, so we weren't allowed to ride the newest ride they had, Space Mountain, because Dad didn't want to leave my very pregnant mother standing by herself to go on the ride with us. I remember hating my unborn sister for that, lol..
Never been there, but do have some great memories from visiting Disney World.
Like once when THE chef at one of their exclusive restaurants came out to see what was wrong when the server noticed that I pushed the Hollandaise sauce off the salmon. Aunt Jemima wouldn't have been so touchy, would she?
Who ARE all those people in that photo, and why did I think Rogue only had one sister?? Sheesh.
Now you're throwing spaghetti-vomiting brothers into the mix?
We still have Aunt Jemima's Syrup here in Canada (and Uncle Ben's rice) -- does that mean we haven't caught up with y'all in the politically correct world?
(word verification - dinkling. Can you guess why that cracked me up???)
That other "sister" is my auntie.
Oh, Sambo's -- flashback. I remember eating there.
Thanks for sharing the photo!
